Churched. A painfully slow read

Churched: One Kid's Journey Toward God Despite a Holy Mess is the true story of Matthew Paul Turner and his ups and downs with the fundamentalist church.

Religious memoirs are not usually my favorite to read but I found Turner’s story very relatable. Like him I struggle with much of what the churches say and would rather focus on the bigger story rather than what they think is “Godly”. It was also refreshing to see hints of humor within the story but it was still a painful slow read for me.

I was provided with a free copy of this book by Blogging For Books. I was not required to give a positive opinion.

Weekend of a Real Adult

When I imagined myself as an adult, I thought my weekends would be full of cocktail hours, dance parties and I would have a bottomless bit of money. Well the reality is my life is nothing like that. For example this weekend was all about cleaning/organizing and trees.

Friday obviously we worked during the day, but as soon as I got home oh man. I had the urging to do something EXCITING. I mean something REALLY, REALLY EXCITING. However, N was like "let's just stay home." (imagine him saying that in a whiney voice) so I resorted to sweeping the cobwebs off the ceiling. Which turned into deep cleaning our whole great room (kitchen, living room, dining room area is the great room).

On Saturday, the Deep Clean of 2014 continued and a lot of stuff to donate was piled into the SUV.. We dropped everything off on our way to pick up our trees. Drove back to the cabin and proceeded to plant every single one of them. All 100 of them..<insert wtf emoji here>

Sunday, was just as thrilling as the other days. I slept in, help organize N's work van and made Lazy Man Lasagna. And Laundry lots and lots of laundry (Which might just be the death of me.) I cannot wait for our line to unthaw so I don't have such a back up of laundry.

I know this portion of adult life is kind of boring but its completely necessary! Life isn't always about cocktails and dance parties. But I must say it was amazing to wake up and see a spotless kitchen!

New Beginnings

Lots of exciting things are happening at our house this week! Lots of new beginnings. I don’t even know where to begin.

  • We bought a new car. It was much needed and its for sure a great little family car. There are so many gadgets and buttons. It's really too much but we bought it for a great price and it will surely last us a few years.

  • My Summer Job is all lined up. Perfect timing since we have a car payment now..

  • We pick up the trees we ordered from the conservation district this weekend. And the plan is to plant all 100+ this Saturday. A couple years ago when we planted it was so cold. My fingers practically fell off!

  • And finally, I decided to start writing again. I might not be a Pulitzer Prize winner or anything. but it helps to relieve stress. Plus all my favorite review sites are saying I need to blog if I still want to freebies.

I have no big expectations for this blog. I don't even know if I will post pictures. Just a place for me to write my little life out and if somebody reads it then so be it!
